The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation, and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 30 countries.

IRC began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Position 1: Child Protection Assistant

Educational Requirements:

Preferred experience & skills:

  • Apply basic to intermediate level knowledge of procedural and systems to perform the requirement of the job skills and knowledge typically acquired through a combination of job-related training, some on-job experience and some formal education.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience for Diploma holder and 0-year experience for BA holder
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time
  • Strong analytic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.

Position 2: Livelihood project Assistance

Job requirements:

  • BSc Degree /Diploma in Agricultural Economics, General Agriculture, and/or related agricultural field of study or certification.
  • Minimum work experience of 0 years for BSC Degree holders, 2 years for Diploma holders
  • NGO experience is a plus.

Required Job competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in humanitarian response, with specific experience in livelihoods and Food security and agricultural development approaches.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties
  • Must be capable of applying skills and knowledge in a range of capacities, including direct data collection.
  • The ability of basic computer skills mainly, MS Word, Excel, internet, etc.
  • Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Flexible and able to handle pressure well, has a strong sense of humor.

Position 3: Women’s Protection and Empowerment Assistant

Educational Requirements:

  • BA/Diploma graduate in Social Studies

Preferred experience & skills:

  • 2 years of relevant work experience for a Diploma holder and 0-year experience for a BA holder
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time
  • Strong analytic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to manage and work through change proactively and positively.

Language Skills:

  • English, language speaking, and writing capability are mandatory plus the local Language is advantageous (Fluent spoken and written Afan Oromo)
