Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965. Since its establishment, COOPI has been undertaking activities to help and empower the poor and needy in different countries. COOPI Ethiopia started its operation in 1995 and has been primarily implementing emergency, relief and early recovery programs in water hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihood, nutrition and protection sectors.
COOPI is currently implementing 10 projects in Ethiopia focusing on WASH, ESNFI, CCCM, Energy, Food security and Livelihood managing 7 field bases and a staff of over 100 employees.
COOPI is looking for qualified, skilled and motivated staff to carry out an internship in the WASH sector, in projects implementation sites. This position will be important to support the WASH department of COOPI.
Position: Internship in the Program sector as MEAL and Program support Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and training
SAD project
- Plan, coordinate, supervise/Monitor SAD project activities with the partners.
- Provide capacity building (training sessions and awareness-raising on SAD activities).
MEAL program
- Support training needs assessment (TNA) and identify training needs for technical staff and ensure building the capacity of relevant COOPI program and technical staff in collaboration with MEAL Coordinator.
- Support the development of detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs) for all projects in collaboration with PMs, MEAL and Programs Coordinators and support in grants opening meetings.
- Support the provision of MEAL training to the PMs on the new COOPI’s MEAL Guidelines and Tools in collaboration with MEAL Coordinator.
- Support the development of the project monitoring plan (PMP) of all projects, based on the COOPI’s MEAL Guidelines and Tools in collaboration with MEAL Coordinator.
- Support the development and use different MEAL Tools and formats based on the contexts and under the umbrella of the COOPI’s Guidelines in collaboration with MEAL Coordinator.
- Support devising the KPIs at Country level in collaboration with the MEAL, Programs Coordinators and Advisory Group.
- Support the collection and compiling of KPIs data in collaboration with the MEAL coordinator and submission to HQ focal person.
Reporting
SAD project
- Keep in regular contact with the SAD project supervisor in Italy and send regular updates on the program.
- Check and update the database containing information about each child.
- Renew the operational agreements between COOPI and its partners.
- Monitor the budget and the expenses of COOPI and the centers.
- Prepare periodic reports on SAD program.
MEAL program
- Support monitoring of the project progresses against detailed activities and budget plans with technical teams, MEAL and program Coordinators ensuring that objectives and indicators are achieved.
- Support delivery of different technical components of the project in collaboration with MEAL Coordinator, with a focus on keeping activities on track for completion and ensuring adequate technical support is provided to activities.
- Support the organization and manage data collection for baseline of all COOPI projects, monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with MEAL and program Coordinators.
- Support in ensuring the accuracy of all quantitative and qualitative reporting to government line departments, Donors, COOPI Head Quarter, and other external audiences MEAL Coordinator.
- Support in ensuring timely and accurate program data collections, data verifications, and data reporting according to program needs and donor requirements in collaboration with MEAL program Coordinator
- Support/Organize data collection with adequate software like Kobo.
- Support the presentation of MEAL findings to the SMT for decision making.
- Support dissemination of findings from the MEAL reports to the internal and external audiences (program and technical staff, consortium partners and the donors).
- Support documentation of MEAL data for lessons and recommend future programming.
External Coordination
- Participate in different consortium meetings through delegation from the MEAL and Programs Coordinators and Advisory Group.
- Support ensuring that effective engagement is maintained with communities and with local government partners, to ensure responsive and sustainable programming.
- Support the program coordinator to approve project grants at regional level.
- Attend technical working group monthly meetings for WASH,NFI/ES,ATF/DRM, Food Cluster, etc., as assigned by the Program Coordinator, Program Advisors and HOM and share key points.
- Collaborate with the PMs to facilitate the organization of internal and donors meetings to the project sites, liaising with advisory group, MEAL and Programs Coordinator and HoM.
- Collaborate with the MEAL coordinator and PMs to prepare and meet with donors visiting the sites of implementation.
- Ensure an active participation in relevant technical working group.
Project development
SAD project
- Identify new children and families in need together with the partners
MEAL program
- Share project ideas and concepts as deemed useful, propose written innovative actions in the area of intervention.
- Support the collection of information from the area of intervention (Zone, Woredas and Kebele, community, local partners, NGOs, etc.), liaise with the MEAL and program coordinators, advisory group and PMs.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisors.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, , and in a related field of study.
- Fluency in English;
- Ability to work well within a team and take responsibility to deliver results.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Respect culture; believe of diverse ethnic and traditional set up
- Proven capacity to work in a team is essential.
Preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in stressful environments and under pressure.
Duration of the internship: Six months, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time staff based on satisfactory performance and the needs of the organization.
Benefit:
- Reimbursement 6,000 ETB
- Medical Insurance 10,000 ETB for Staff and 3,000 ETB for dependent (Spouse and Children)
- Leave days 8 for 6 months contract.
