Awash Bank, Ethiopia’s pioneering private bank, was established on November 10, 1994 after the downfall of the socialist regime. The Bank was established by 486 founding shareholders with a paid-up capital of Birr 24.2 million and started banking operations on Feb. 13, 1995.

Awash Bank Job Vacancy Announcement:

Position 1: Senior – IT Quality Assurance & Change Management Officer

Qualifications and Experience : BSC Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering & Information Technology or related fields plus a minimum of 6 years’ experience in IT, software development, quality inspection, auditing and testing & project management in banking areas.

  • Masters in IT related field (added advantage).
  • Professional certificates in Project Management areas, in quality assurance areas including quality auditor, quality engineer, quality improvement and Associate & Six Sigma (an added advantage).

Position 2: Legal Officer

Qualifications and Experience : LL.B. Degree in Law plus a minimum of three (3) years of work experience.

The job holder prepares a variety of legal documentation; Reviews legal documentation prepared for the Bank or arising from the work of the Bank; Provides legal advice to regional manager and staff in all areas of the Bank’s activities and proffering solutions to legal problems, constraints, risks, options, consequences and approaches.

Position 3: Customer Service Manager I

Qualifications and Experience : BA Degree in Marketing, Accounting, Management, Economics plus minimum of 5 years of experience with at least 3 years at operational work.

The jobholder is responsible for managing the customer service function at the Branch and ensure operational excellence to deliver exemplary services for high customer satisfaction levels supporting the Bank’s growth.

Position 4: Branch Operation Manager I

Qualifications and Experience : BA Degree in Accounting, Management, Marketing & Economics plus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with at least 3 years at branch operation.

The jobholder is responsible to manage, organize, co-ordinate, and control branch activities. S/he manages the customer service function at the Branch and ensure operational excellence to deliver exemplary services for high customer satisfaction levels. S/he also ensures that transactions are cost effective and profitable to the Bank.

Position 5: Customer Service and Operations Manager I

Qualifications and Experience : BA Degree in Accounting, Management, Marketing & Economics plus a minimum of 6 years’ experience with at least 3 years at operational work.

The jobholder is responsible for managing the customer service function at the Branch and ensure operational excellence to deliver exemplary services for high customer satisfaction levels supporting the Bank’s growth.

Position 6: Branch Manager – Class IV Branch

Qualifications and Experience : BA Degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Banking & Finance and Economics plus minimum of eight (8) years of relevant banking experience of which 3 years in a supervisory position.

The job holder is responsible to plan, organize, lead, and control the banking activities of a branch office. S/he ensures that operating procedures, rules, regulations and code of practices of the bank are adhered to by subordinates. The jobholder leads the branch sales and customer service initiatives and guides branch operational excellence. S/he prepares and submits annual budget, operational plan and activity and progress reports.

Position 7: Relationship Manager – Personal & SME Banking III

Qualifications and Experience : BA Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field plus a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in banking sector of which three (3) years in a supervisory Position.

The job holder is responsible for attracting, deepening and managing financial relationship to meet deposit and loans growth goals, achieve business growth for the Bank by selling SME Banking Unit products within assigned market segment, and by promoting and selling other products and services of the Bank to enhance value-add relationship with existing customers. This incorporates prospecting and acquiring new customers, and pursuing incremental business within the existing customers, as well as managing customer expectations to sustain the business relationship.
