About UNDP in Ethiopia
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been working in Ethiopia since 1981, supporting the country’s development goals in the areas of poverty reduction, economic growth, democratic governance and climate-resilient development. As part of it Country program document (CPD 2020-2025)UNDP aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s ability to transition to a democratic, peaceful and prosperous middle-income country, while promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Intern – Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
lens:
The internship offers motivated and independent graduates the opportunity to gain direct insight into UNDP’s work, with a focus on results-oriented planning, monitoring and evaluation in the Climate Resilient Environmental Sustainability Unit (CRES).
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and review of project protocol frameworks and results frameworks.
- Support the creation and implementation of project M&E plans.
- Monitor physical and financial project implementation in accordance with UNDP standards.
- Collect and analyze project data to track performance against goals.
- Review and report project results and progress.
- Contribute to project reporting processes, including donor and progress reports.
- Participate in knowledge sharing activities and facilitate data entry into risk registers.
- Draft project documents or concept notes based on lessons learned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the unit.
Learning objectives:
- Gain an understanding of the work of the UNDP and the UN systems.
- Develop practical skills in M&E and project management.
- Improve your knowledge of UNDP’s administrative and operational policies.
- Build professional relationships in a multicultural environment.
Qualifications
Required training:
- Enrollment in (or recent completion of) a postgraduate program in economics, business management, public administration, project management or related field.
- Graduates must begin their internship within one year of graduation.
Experience:
- No previous work experience is required.
- Interest or scientific focus in climate- and environmental-related areas is an advantage.
Languages:
- Fluent oral and written command English And Amharic is required.
Skills and competencies:
- Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and software applications.
- Ability to collaborate in multicultural environments.
