JSI is a public health organization dedicated to improving the health of people and communities in more than 70 countries. Almost 40 years of global experience supports and informs JSI’s work in Ethiopia. Since 1994, JSI has worked in partnership with the government and local civil society organizations to support the Ethiopian government’s health and development priorities.
JSI is working in all regions across Ethiopia, in urban as well as rural areas—though most projects reach the largest population groups by focusing on the four most populous regions. Operationally, JSI has the integrity of strong management systems, combined with the flexibility of a decentralized structure that meets clients’ and partners’ needs.
Position 1: Gender Mainstreaming Intern
Experiences and Skills/Qualifications:
- Fresh Bachelor degree graduate in Health Systems, Health Policy, Public Health, Health Informatics or related disciplines is required.
- Zero years of relevant professional experience.
- Internship for young female professional only
- Strong interest in gender issues, Health Information System (HIS).
- Ability to work under pressure, long work hours, and high workload.
- Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual.
- Proven organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage a wide range of activities on a daily basis.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with people representing a wide range of personal and organizational cultures.
- English fluency is required and ability to speak and write Amharic is required.
- Duration of engagement 9 (nine) months
Position 2: Health Information System (HIS) Intern
Experiences and Skills/Qualifications:
- Fresh Bachelor degree graduate in Health Systems, Health Policy, Public Health, Health Informatics or related disciplines with minimum GPA of 3.50 is required.
- Zero years of relevant professional experience.
- Internship for young female professional only
- Ability to work under pressure, long work hours, and high workload.
- Ability to independently organize work and prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with people representing a wide range of personal and organizational cultures.
- English fluency is required and ability to speak and write Amharic is required.
- Duration of engagement 9 (nine) months
Position 3: Digital Health Intern
Experiences and Skills/Qualifications:
- Academic Qualifications: A fresh degree graduate in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with minimum GPA of 3.50.
- Years of relevant professional experience: ZERO
- Position Open for: young female professional candidates only
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of public health principles and digital health tools; proficiency in programming and/or data management software.
- Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work under pressure, handle long work hours, and manage high workloads; self-motivated, responsible, punctual, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Language Skills: English fluency required; ability to speak and write Amharic is an added advantage.
