Organization for Social Services, Health and Development (OSSHD), previously known by Organization for Social Services for AIDS (OSSA), is the first and pioneer organization in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Ethiopia. It was established in 1990 by religious organizations, international agencies and cooperation of the national Ministry of Health. OSSHD aspires to see a healthy, productive and self-reliant society of Ethiopia in which every person enjoys the right to a life of dignity and freedom from poverty. To this effort, OSSHD is executing a huge diversity of programs to address the community’s need through three major thematic areas namely: Health, Social Services and Development Program in specific areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), HIV/AIDS, Maternal, Neonatal and Child health (MNCH), Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Harm Reduction and Social services for vulnerable populations.

As part of the health projects, it would like to hire a well experienced and competent applicant for the following positions.

Woreda EPI Technical Officers

Major Duties –

  • Prepares woreda work plans for effective execution of the project activities as per the guidance from zonal Coordinator.
  • Provide technical support to woreda Health office, health centers and other stakeholders and mobilizes related stakeholders and beneficiary communities as per the project activities and agreement signed with the government and donor to fulfill the objective of the project.
  • Make sure that all the planned vaccine session is completed as planned and reach the target
  • Provide, facilitate and coordinate different workshops, trainings and other platforms under the project catchment
  • Takes full responsibility of financial management of the specific project activities that you will be assigned
  • Prepares and submits field visit reports, monthly and quarterly project review reports, technical progress reports, Commcare data and financial reports to OSSHD.
  • Maintains coordination and linkage with various stakeholders at woreda level.
  • Represent OSSHD at different levels of meetings, workshops, for as and when necessary.
  • Performs other related activities as assigned and required. 

Number of Position  :  Twenty Two (22)

Duty Station:  East Harerge (4): Meta, Gorogutu, Kersa, Chinaksen, East Wollega (9): Nunu Kumba, Bilo Boshe, Wama Agalo, Gudeya Bila, Gida Ayyana, Limu, Haro Limu, Ebantu, Kiramu and West Wollega (9): Begi, Qondala, Gimbi Rural, Mana Sibu, Gulliso , Najo Rural,Sayo Nole, Boji Chokorsa, Kiltu Kara

Contract Period:  Seven Months with possible extension based on performance & availability of budget.

Reports to: Zonal Coordinator

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience ፡

  • BA/MA/MPH/MSc/PHD in Public Health, Nursing, or related fields of study.  a minimum of 8/6/4 years of relevant work experience.  

Skills:

  • Strong leadership skill
  • Good knowledge, experience and understanding of the current Extended program of immunization (EPI) of the country 
  • High levels of skills in project planning and management, demonstrated skills in prioritizing task and meeting deadlines 
  • Strong communication, analytical and report writing skills with fluency in spoken and written English and Oromyfa Language
  • Knowledge and skills in basic computing, demonstrated inter-personal skills in working with a multi-disciplinary team 
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for working with rural and vulnerable communities living in remote areas of the country. 
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action

Zonal EPI Project Coordinator

Major Duties –

  • Make sure that all the planned vaccine session is completed as planned and reach the target and ensure all the data register in commcare application
  • Provide, facilitate and coordinate different workshops, trainings and other platforms under the project catchment
  • Takes full responsibility of financial and administrative management of the specific project activities that you will be assigned
  • Prepares and submits field visit reports, monthly and quarterly project review reports, technical progress reports and financial reports to OSSHD.
  • Maintains coordination and linkage with various stakeholders at zonal level.
  • Represent OSSHD at different levels of meetings, workshops, for as and when necessary.
  • Performs other related activities as assigned and required.

Duty Station: East Wollega ( Nekemete Town, East Harerge ( Harer Town) and West Wollega (Gimbi)

Reports to: Branch Office Manger

Accountant

Job Description

Job Specification:

First/second degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance and training in Peachtree accounting software application and IPSAS with 6/8 years relevant work experience.

Job Summary:

  • Under the supervision of the Finance Division Head, the Accountant performs:
  •  journalizing, posting, cross-referencing, adjusting entries, correcting entries, closing entries, determining account balances, testing accounting activities for accuracy;
  • carries out inventory control activities, perform stocktaking activities;
  • verifies that journal entries of financial transactions agree with the entries and particulars of the respective source documents;
  • regularly tests account balances for overstatement, understatement, transposing, omission and other possible clerical errors to keep the book of accounts reliable and updated;
  •  reconciles bank statements against book of accounts;
  • ensures the consistency of physical count of inventories with their balances in the book of accounts;
  • prepares a monthly trial balance of ledger account balances;
  • prepares schedule of subsidiary ledger accounts and chart of general ledger accounts;
  • participates in preparing periodic and year-end financial reports and statements;

Senior Accountant

Job Description

Job Specification:

Second/first degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance and related fields of study and at least 10/12 years of relevant work experience. Training in Peachtree accounting software application and IPSAS.

Job Summary:

  • the Senior Accountant reviews, verifies, checks the completeness and adequacy of financial documents;
  • inspects & tests books of accounts for accuracy and performs other advanced general accounting tasks;
  •  follows up budget requisition, consolidation, endorsement and implementation of other matters related to the funds/projects/offices assigned;
  • analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and expenses incurred to project operation;
  • verifies that bank statements are reconciled with the book of accounts;
  • verifies that expenditures are justified, properly made and signed and charged to correct accounts/fund/project budget;
  • ensures that the financial books are always kept up-to-date, timely closed and audited;
  •  prepares periodic and end-of-period financial reports and statements resulting from subsidiary and general ledger accounts;
  •  undertakes analysis on financial statements and other financial matters of the assigned projects/programs/branch office.

Reports to:  Head Finance Division
