Background on ACTED

ACTED is a French humanitarian NGO, founded in 1993, which supports vulnerable populations, affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. ACTED provides continued support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and engaging long-term challenges facing our target populations, in order to break the poverty cycle, foster development and reduce vulnerability to disasters. Their interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context.

ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed team player for the following vacant position in Somali, Ethiopia.

1. Job title: Enumerators

Contract Type: Fixed

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Location: Afder, Doolo, Korahe, Liban and Daawa Zones

Number of Position:31

Start date:  ASAP

Position Profile 

The Enumerator is responsible for collecting reliable and accurate data and follows instructions provided by the team leader. Enumerators should conduct household-level surveys and beneficiary registration using digital-based tools such as Kobo Collect, ODK, and COMCARE. Enumerators should also facilitate and support the team leader when conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews.

Job Requirements

  • Must be Ethiopian national with good communications skills of English language (both oral and written), and knowledge of the location context will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of a diploma in Statistics, Agriculture, Agricultural economics, Food Security, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Management, Economics, and any other related Social Sciences.
  • Familiarity with the use of Android-based tablets or Smartphones and mobile data collection. applications such as KOBO collect, ODK and COMCARE.
  • Must be Computer literate and be able to use a smart phone.
  • At least 1 year of involvement in enumeration work with NGOs in Ethiopia.
  • Must speak at least one of the local dialects of the region mentioned.
  • Flexible and ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Ability to manage time, multitask and prioritize.
  • Innovative, motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.

2. Job title: Project Officer

  • Contract duration: Fixed
  • Location:  Daawa, Liben, Afdheer, Doolo and Korahe
  • Number of Positions: Five (5)
  • Starting date: ASAP

Position Profile

The Project Officer will be responsible for leading and targeting vulnerable households and facilitating and ensuring transparency and accountability of community representation in the Zone. He/She will also be responsible for the overall implementation of food distributions and the reception of food commodities in the assigned Zone.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in humanitarian food programs/distribution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Disaster Risk Management, or equivalent in a related field
  • Able to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good numerical, report writing, and administration skills; committed to consultative and servant-minded leadership; able to set clear objectives for staff and delegate; able to enforce procedures.
  • Good understanding of SPHERE and other international standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards.
  • Ability to train, mobilize, and manage national staff.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.
  • Good interpersonal skills, commitment, and motivation
  • Fluency in Somali and English, both written and verbal.

3. Job title: Project Assistant

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Location: Afder, Doolo, Korahe, Liban and Daawa Zone

Number of Positions: 31

Start Date:  ASAP

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in humanitarian food programs/distribution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Disaster Risk Management, or equivalent in a related field
  • Able to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good numerical, report writing, and administration skills; committed to consultative and servant-minded leadership; able to set clear objectives for staff and delegate; able to enforce procedures.
  • Good understanding of SPHERE and other international standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards.
  • Ability to train, mobilize, and manage national staff.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing humanitarian food programs/distribution.
  • Master’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Disaster Risk Management, or equivalent in a related field
  • Minimum three years of proven management experience
  • Able to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good numerical, report writing, and administration skills; committed to consultative and servant-minded leadership; able to set clear objectives for staff and delegate; able to enforce procedures.
  • Good understanding of SPHERE and other international standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards.
  • Ability to train, mobilize, and manage national staff.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.
  • Good interpersonal skills, commitment, and motivation
  • Fluency in Somali and English, both written and verbal.
