IRC began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Educational Requirements:
- BA/Diploma graduate in Social Studies
Preferred experience & skills:
- Apply basic to intermediate level knowledge of procedural and systems to perform the requirement of the job skills and knowledge typically acquired through a combination of job-related training, some on-job experience and some formal education.
- 2 years of relevant work experience for Diploma holder and 0-year experience for BA holder
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time
- Strong analytic problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.
The position holder handles implementing a community-based child protection program in Deder Town. The position holder will lead all aspects of the prevention and response activities of the program including working with the community, psychosocial support activities, and case management
Duties and Responsibilities
Summary Statement of Responsibilities:
- Assist the team in the assessment of the living conditions of children in the IDP/Returnee community centers and participate in the development of an appropriate strategy in addressing their needs.
- Support community leaders and government sector focal persons in the monitoring, verification, and documentation of Child protection cases.
- Follow up the preparation and implementation of case action plan and conduct group awareness raising including outreach programs.
- Support child protection officer in facilitating and coordinating appropriate care arrangements, and suitable alternative care systems with close supervision and attention to the individual concerns of children’s
- Assist the child rights clubs to demonstrate to the community and the concerned body about protection concerns that children are facing and promote the participation of children in all matters affecting their lives.
- Organize and facilitate CP awareness-raising sessions.
- Organize and lead psychosocial support activities at (the Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS)
- Work closely with the CP Officer in the celebration of international events days and other awareness-raising sessions.
- Participate with partners, and the team leaders in conducting the Best Interest Assessment to ensure the needs of children are addressed.
- Adhere and fully abide by the CP code of conduct!
- Carry out data Entry into the Child Protection Information System (CP IMS) and GBVIMS database.
- Shall take any additional responsibilities as requested by supervisors.
language Skills:
- English, language speaking, and writing capability are mandatory plus the local Language is advantageous (Fluent spoken and written Afan Oromo)
